About Tania Banegas
I’m a Honduran born fiber artist working from my home studio in Los Angeles.
As a fiber artist, I am inspired by the profound connection between texture, color, and the natural world. My practice centers on the tactile and transformative qualities of fiber, exploring how these materials can evoke both personal and universal experiences. I often freestyle as I go, allowing the fibers to guide the process organically, which brings an element of spontaneity and intuition to each piece. Through intricate techniques and organic forms, I seek to reflect the rhythms of nature—its cycles, patterns, and quiet strength.
Texture is at the heart of my work, inviting viewers to engage not only visually but also emotionally, as if the fibers themselves carry a story. Color acts as both a language and a mood, drawing from the earthy tones and vivid hues of landscapes, flora, and celestial elements. Nature informs my compositions, grounding my pieces in themes of growth, renewal, and resilience.
Each creation is an exploration of the possibilities of fiber art—a dialogue between material and maker, rooted in craft yet reaching for deeper meaning. I hope my work offers a space for reflection, a moment to connect with the beauty and intricacy of the world around us.
